F.A.Q.'s - General

Q:

Is there a catalogue or brochure that can be mailed?

A:

Currently, no. This website serves as the catalogue. However, invitation samples are available for select designs.

Q:

Can I place an order now to reserve the Monthly Special even if I do not yet have my wording ready?

A:

Yes. Your order will be processed with the Monthly Special and then put "on hold" until we hear from you regarding a decision with your text.

Q:

How long will it take to create the proofs?

A:

Proofs are ready within 24 hours of receiving your payment. Upon approval of your proofs, your order is sent to press and considered in production.

Q:

Who pays for the shipping of the invitations?

A:

You are responsible for the full actual shipping cost plus a $10 handling (packaging) fee.

Q:

How are orders shipped?

A:

Orders are shipped via USPS Priority or Express Mail, depending upon how much and how soon the client wants their order. The client specifies their preference. USPS Express Mail from Hawaii takes 2 days to reach the mainland, Priority, up to 7 days. If you'd prefer 2 Day Fed Ex, or have a Fed Ex or UPS account you'd like to use, please let us know.
F.A.Q.'s - Design Related

Q:

Do you have a storefront or a place where your designs can be viewed??

A:

Currently, no.

Q:

Can you print Japanese or foreign language characters/text?

A:

Yes. However, you must provide the artwork. We will need for you to email a high resolution EPS file that is formatted to fix the invitation design you select. The actual useable text space varies based upon the design you choose, so please contact us for further information regarding the design for which you're interested.

Q:

What if there are multiple fonts I'd like to "try on" on my invitation?

A:

When ordering your invitations, if you are unsure of the font you want to use, that's fine. Provide us with the fonts you're debating between on the Hana Hou Productions Order Form (the one after the PayPal.com order form), and we'll provide you with your invitation proofs to start in those fonts. Since your invitation is the main piece, once you see your wording in the given fonts, you'll be able to make your decision. We will then proceed to work on your remaining proofs in your newly decided on font.

F.A.Q.'s - Ordering

Q:

When should invitation orders be placed for wedding and anniversary celebrations?

A:

Ordering your invitations 3-5 months prior to your event date would be ideal. You'll need to allow: (a) one month to order invitations from Hana Hou Productions, (b) perhaps 1-3 weeks for you to address your envelopes (depending upon the number of guests, if you work during the day and will only have time at night, etc) and affixing postage, and then (c) 4-6 weeks for mailing the invitations out prior to the event date.

Q:

Do you accept credit card payments?

A:

Yes, we do via PayPal.com They accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover, as well as, personal check payments (which take 4 business days to clear). Please visit their website for more information.

Q:

How long will an order take to process?

A:

a. Basic Orders - Proofs are ready within 24 hours of receiving your payment. Upon approval of your proofs, your order is sent to press. Orders for those designs currently available should be ready for shipment within 3-4 weeks. If the order is ready earlier, the client will be called (or emailed) and notified. The sooner the approval is received, the sooner the invitations will be taken to press. Proofs are ready within 24 hours of receiving your deposit payment.
    b. Guest Addressing - If you've ordered an additional service such as "Guest Addressing" for envelopes and place cards, please add one week.
    c. Custom Designs - Can take anywhere from one week to one month. A timeline is set on a case by case basis.

F.A.Q.'s - Ordering

Q:

How do I determine the "reply by" date for the response card (for engagement, wedding and anniversary celebrations)?

A:

The response card "reply date" should be approximately 3-4 weeks before your event, but check with your caterer for their "final count needed by" date.

Q:

How far in advance should invitations be mailed out for wedding and anniversary celebrations?

A:

The rule of thumb is 4-6 weeks. However, if you plan on inviting out-of-town guests who will be flying in, you may want to consider mailing them out as early as 2 months before. What my husband and I did for our wedding was to send out a "Save the Date" card six months before the wedding. We set up airline, car rental, and hotel discounts and enclosed all that information with the "Save the Date" cards. That way our guests had plenty of time to make their arrangements. You might also want to check with your caterer and find out when they require the final guest count - some require a time frame of one month prior to the event date. Also, if you're addressing the envelopes yourself, don't forget to factor that in when ordering and mailing the invitations.

F.A.Q.'s - Mailing

Q:

How much do the Hana Hou Productions Invitations each cost to mail?

A:

a. Basic - Assuming the content is: (1) the main A7/A8 envelope, (2) the invitation, (3) the response card and response envelope, and even (4) the reception card, the postage will be 60¢ USD for mailing within the USA. If you add any additional inserts such as maps or directions, or a slip with registry information, you will need to take one assembled invitation sample to your local Post Office and have them determine the weight and postage. Also, invitations being sent to a foreign destination will incur more postage. The mailing rate to each country varies, so it is best to mail those directly from the Post Office.

    b. Response Card - if you choose to affix the postage for the reply envelope for your guests, the return postage for the card and envelope is 37¢ USD. If you are including reply cards for foreign guests, do not affix return postage on the response envelope, as they will need to affix stamps from their own country.
    c. Thank You Card - the postage for the Thank You card and envelope is 37¢ USD.
